EZ360

EZ360 is a 360° video player for Virtual Reality headsets. It was designed for use at events and meetings where you want to show your 360° video easily. EZ360 is perfect if you show your video to people who have little experience with VR headsets.

EZ360 is the easiest 360° video player on the market. Just put on the headset and the app will automatically play the video. The person that is wearing the headset, does not have to do anything. No controller, no buttons, no setting!

EZ360 uses the proximity sensor in the VR headset to check if someone wears the headset. When it notices someone is wearing the VR headset it will automatically play the video that has been preloaded on the VR headset.

EZ360 plays videos that are locally stored on your device. This way you are not dependent on an internet connection. You can preload videos on your VR headset or phone by connecting it to your PC.

Place the video(s) you want to showcase inside the “Videos” folder within the EZ360 folder.

Starting a video with EZ360 is super easy. Just put on the headset and the video will start automatically. If two or more videos have been preloaded, EZ360 will start a selection screen. In the selection screen, the viewer has to watch video thumbnail for 3 seconds to start the video.

Samsung Gear VR:

Enter VR Screen on Oculus Go

The “Enter VR” screen is built into the Oculus system and cannot be disabled by an app. However, we have some tips on how to edit the settings so you won’t have to use the controller every time you put on the headset.

1. Connect to your phone so you can change the Go’s settings from the phone app.

2. Go to “Power settings” and change the time that it will take for the Oculus Go to go into sleeping mode. The standard time is 15seconds. For events, we recommend putting this setting to “15 minutes”. This way you can put the Oculus Go down and the next person who picks it up does not see the “Enter VR” screen.

3. Enable developer mode in the settings. If you have enabled developer mode you can use the volume buttons to dismiss the “Enter VR” message instead of having to use the controller.

EZ360 Lite

EZ360 Lite is the free trial version of EZ360. The Lite version has the same features as the paid Pro version but it has a 5-second waiting screen with VR-House branding before every video and a watermark during the entire video. In this waiting screen, you will find instructions on how to buy a license for the EZ360 or EZ360 Pro. EZ360 lite is free to download so you can test the EZ360 functionalities. It also has the customization options of EZ360 Pro.

You can download EZ360 Lite for free in the Oculus Store. You can visit the Oculus store using your headset, using the Oculus app on your phone, or visit the Oculus Go store via your browser.

EZ360 Lite is meant for testing all the features of EZ360 and EZ360 Pro. That is why it is free to download.

If you want to remove the watermark you have to upgrade to EZ360 or EZ360 Pro.

If your Oculus Go doesn’t show the EZ360 folder, please follow the steps below:

  1. Disconnect your Oculus Go from your PC
  2. Start the EZ360 app on your Oculus Go
  3. Restart your Oculus Go
  4. Connect to your PC again.

You can change the EZ360 Pro logo in the video selection screen. Add your custom logo to the “Images” folder and name the file “logo”. Logos will look the best if you use a 20:9 ratio. For example 400×180 or 1000×450. Other sizes will be scaled accordingly to fit in the available space, but keeping their aspect ratio.

Please note: Customization options are Pro features. These will only work in EZ360 Lite and EZ360 Pro

Thumbnails will look the best if you use a 16:9 ratio. For example 640×360 or 1280×720. Other sizes will be scaled accordingly to fit in the available space, but keeping their aspect ratio.

Place your custom thumbnails in the Videos folder. Give the thumbnail the same name (including “_TB” for stereo videos) as the video. This way EZ360 will know what thumbnail goes with what video.

Please note: Customization options are Pro features. These will only work in EZ360 Lite and EZ360 Pro

To change the background to a custom background please add your custom background in the images folder. Name the file “background”. Please use a 2:1 aspect ratio and .png or .jpg extension.

Please note: Customization options are Pro features. The intro screen will only work with EZ360 Pro.

You can add an intro screen before your video by adding a 360° image in the images folder. Name the image “intro” and use a 2:1 ratio.

EZ360 will display this image before every video that is played. It is only possible to add one intro screen. The standard duration of the intro screen is 6 seconds. You can change the duration by editing the config file.

Please note: Customization options are Pro features. These will only work in EZ360 Lite and EZ360 Pro

How to find video analytics in EZ360 Pro

Open this file with a text editor. You will see something like the image below.

This is how you interpret the data in this file. On this device, “Test Video One” was viewed 1 time, the average viewing time was 1.137433 minutes and the last time it was viewed was on February 21st 2019 at 10:26. “Test Video Two” was viewed 2 times, the average viewing time was 1.9 minutes and the last time it was viewed was on February 21st 2019 at 10:29.

EZ360 Cloud

EZ360 cloud offers everything that EZ360 has, but also an online content management system (CMS) that allows organizations to manage the video content on VR devices remotely via an online portal. EZ360 cloud thereby allows you to easily distribute 360 degree video content to a large number of VR headsets. These devices can be distributed all around the world.

EZ360 cloud consists of two parts; the first is an online web portal where you can manage your video content. The second part is a VR application to load and play the video content.

After you have registered for an EZ360 Cloud account, you can upload your videos through the web portal. In the portal, you will see an access code that you need to enter (only once) in the VR application when wearing the VR headset. By doing this, the headset will be paired to your account and automatically update the video content when connected to the internet. The videos will be stored locally on the device, so after the content has been downloaded, an active internet connection is no longer required.

The EZ360 Cloud VR app can be downloaded easily via Oculus. After you have registered an account at our web-portal, you can navigate to the devices section to generate an oculus key in order to get access to the EZ360 Cloud application. The key can be easily redeemed via the Oculus app and is valid for all your headsets logged in to the same Oculus account! Need many keys? Contact us.

Uploading videos to your EZ360 Cloud account can be easily done through our web portal. After you have uploaded and configured your video, you can place the video in a playlist and you will be able to download and view it from your connected VR headsets.

No, the VR application was developed as such that it is not needed to use the controller in the app. You can make use of the easy to use gazing system that is implemented.

You will only need an internet connection in order to pair your headsets to your EZ360 Cloud account and download the videos you prepared via the web portal. Once the headset is paired, it is not required to log in again on the next startup of the application. Also, you can play the 360-degree videos without the need to have an active internet connection. However, if you want the device to check if the content is still up to date, you need to connect it to the internet again. Then, the check will automatically occur and if the content on the web portal is different than the content on the device, the device will automatically download the updated video content.

It is possible to connect an unlimited amount of devices to your cloud account to access your video content. It depends on the subscription you have, how many headsets you can have simultaneously connected to your cloud account.

You can upload videos to the cloud as many times as you want, for as long as you have storage left in your account. If your storage is full, you need to delete existing videos to free up space, or you can upgrade your subscription to get more storage space.

On request, we can convert your EZ360 Cloud user account into a management account. This allows you to invite others to set up their own Cloud account and allows you to manage the video content of these accounts. The separate cloud accounts will have their own pairing codes with their own video content respectively. This feature is ideal for large companies with diverse video content or video content producers that have clients that can benefit from the EZ360 Cloud solution for playing the 360-degree videos.

Video & Audio support

Stereoscopic videos are supported by EZ360 in the top-bottom format. Add “_TB” to the file name to indicate that this is a stereo video (e.g. “video1_TB.mp4). Don’t worry, the “_TB” is not visible for your users. EZ360 will display a 3D video icon in the thumbnail when it recognizes the video as a stereoscopic video.

Just like with stereoscopic videos you need to add something to the name of the file to indicate it is a 180° video.

For stereoscopic 180° videos in the left-right format add “_180LR” to the file name (e.g. “video name_180LR”).

For monoscopic 180° videos add “_180” to the file name (e.g. “video name_180”).

It is possible to watch a flat 2D video in EZ360. Add “_2D” to the video name to indicate that it is a non-360° video (e.g. “video1_2D.mp4”). EZ360 will recognize it as a flat video and display it with a full black background.

EZ360 also plays "flat" non-360° videos

EZ360 supports spatial audio with the .tbe files. Add a .tbe file to the “Videos” folder with the same name as the video. EZ360 will display a 3D audio icon in the thumbnail when it detects a .tbe file with the same name.

EZ360 supports .srt subtitles. Add a .srt file to the “Videos” folder with the same name as the video. Subtitles will only work if you use a monoscopic video. The subtitles move with the headset so people will always be able to watch wherever they want and read the subtitles.

Example:

We are still working on native support for 360° images and photos. In the meantime, if you want to show pictures with EZ360 you could consider creating a video file of your image(s). If you create one video file with multiple images that for x seconds you get a slide show that will automatically start when someone puts on the headset. If you create multiple video files, each with only one image you get a selection screen that shows each file. People can then select by gazing what image they want to view.

Oculus

An Oculus Key is a unique code of 25 characters that is used to download applications from the Oculus Store.

When you purchase a license from our website you will get an Oculus Key to download the EZ360 (Pro) app.

You can redeem this key at oculus.com/redeem-code.

In our tests, we used a 5-minute monoscopic 360° video. We used the Oculus Go in developer mode with the sleeping mode turned to “never”. We disabled the Wifi. In our test, we watched the video (5 minutes) and then put the Oculus Go down for 1 minute to simulate use at events. We did not charge the device in between. The battery of the Oculus Go lasted for 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Oculus currently does not support a kiosk mode for Oculus Go. With EZ360 we try to make everything as easy as possible. That’s why we have several recommendations on how to show your 360° videos.

Use Developer Mode
This allows you to unlock the device with the volume buttons instead of the controller. You can turn on developer mode in the settings on the Oculus App on your phone.

Change the power settings
By changing the power settings you can choose after what period of time the Oculus Go will go into standby mode. The standard setting is 15 seconds but you can change this up to 15 minutes.

Kiosk mode
There are some third-party solutions to disable the Oculus software and only run 1 specific app. If you are interested in this, and would like to use this in combination with EZ360 please contact us.

To find what version of Oculus is installed on your device, please follow the steps below:

For Oculus Go, go to the “Settings” tab in the Oculus home screen and then choose “See All”. Click on “About” to display the version information.

For Samsung Gear VR, go to “More” and scroll all the way down. Here you can find the version information.

We experienced that some customers have issues when trying to access the Oculus Go via their computer. For example when they want to sideload videos on the Oculus Go. Most of the time this happens to Oculus Go devices that are set to Developer Mode.

Solution 1: Disable Developer Mode. This will enable you to sideload content onto the Oculus Go. You can enable developer mode in the Oculus app on your phone. Go to settings, connect with the VR-device and enable developer mode in the “more settings” menu.

Solution 2: If you follow the following steps you can connect your Oculus Go even when Developer Mode is enabled.

  1. Download the latest version of adbGUI
  2. unzip the folder
  3. double click on “adbGUI”
  4. Check in the Oculus Go if you need to give permission
  5. Your Oculus Go should now be connected

If the link in step one does not work please check: https://github.com/labo89/adbGUI/releases
